The Dam Busters with Dan Snow: A?gala screening on the 75th anniversary?

Relive the Royal Air Force?s most daring operation of the Second World War, 75 years to the day, with a gala screening of the newly restored classic British film, The Dam Busters.
Dan Snow?will host a commemorative evening paying tribute to Wing Commander Guy Gibson and his comrades of the legendary 617 Squadron. This event will culminate with a screening of?The?Dam Busters, directed by Michael Anderson and starring Sir Michael Redgrave and Richard Todd, on a huge 40ft screen in stunning 4K definition.
“One of the greatest British films of all time in one of Britain?s greatest venues. It?s going to be an unforgettable night of commemoration and nostalgia, ” said?Snow.
Guests will include family members of the Dam Busters crew, former members of 617 Squadron,?renowned historian Paul Beaver, plus a ?bouncing bomb? experiment and?music from the world?famous?Glenn Miller Orchestra.
Marking RAF Military History?
“We’re proud to be supporting this event as part of the RAF’s centenary year,” said Colin Hitchins, Community Engagement Manager at London Biggin Hill Airport.
“At the Biggin Hill Festival of Flight 2018, we too will be looking back over RAF history to commemorate, celebrate, and inspire the next generation.”
Changing the course of WW2
?The Dam Busters film? shows how the iconic raid of 1943 and Barnes Wallis? scientific invention helped change the course of the Second World War.
“The great George Lucas, while preparing ?Star Wars?, would run the film time and time again to watch the low flying sequences, and would be inspired by them,” said?The Dam Busters?director, Michael Anderson.
This 75th anniversary event supports the?Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the RAF?s leading welfare charity.
