To celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, we spoke to some of the brilliant individuals involved with engineering here at London Biggin Hill Airport. Having started as a licensed engineer, Ema is now the Line Maintenance Manager at Bombardier. She manages a team of 8 engineers, ensuring aircraft are ready for service, and shared her advice to anyone looking to pursue a career in aviation.

‘Aviation will take you all over the world and engineering provides many brilliant opportunities. Don’t be put off by the lack of information out there; research and talk to people in the industry to gain experience and understanding about the roles available… always grab each opportunity!’

We also spoke to Karyn & Katie at Zenith Aviation, who shared an insight into their roles as Technical Records Administrator and Purchasing, Stores & Logistics Supervisor, and how they support the maintenance operation. They both oversee the engineering process and ensure aircraft parts arrive on time to keep aircraft serviceable.
