Students ‘Reach for the Sky’ on Work Experience Week

In June, we hosted 10 students for our inaugural ‘Work Experience’ week. The initiative is aimed at supporting local young people by showcasing the diverse range of career opportunities available here at London Biggin Hill Airport.

During the week, the students visited a number of our departments to gain some hands-on experience in different fields of aviation – including Customer Service, Ground Operations, Rescue & Firefighting and Security, to name a few.

Shenae, student from Newstead Wood School for Girls, said “During the week, I had so many new experiences and met lots of inspirational people. I’ve developed more confidence in talking and asking questions, and learnt more about the aviation industry and what it entails – this is definitely a career path I will consider in the future”.

At London Biggin Hill, we are passionate about supporting the next generation of aviation professionals via our Unite to Inspire programme. We intend to run the Work Experience week initiative on an annual basis, in addition to our two ‘Futures Weeks’ and ‘Taster Days’, with the support of our resident aerospace businesses.
