London Airspace

The Airspace Over London and the South East is Changing

Over the coming years, a national program of airspace modernisation will result in the redesign of the routes used by commercial aircraft operating in the airspace above London and the South East. By using modern GPS based navigation technologies, a new airspace infra structure will allow modern aircraft to perform more efficiently and will increase the effective capacity of our airspace leading to fewer delays and improved economics in the future.

As part of this redesign, London Biggin Hill Airport will introduce new departure and arrival routes for some aircraft using the airport.

In order to ensure that we take into account all points of view, we want to learn what you believe we should consider and prioritise before we start any new design routes. To assist in this process, please download the appropriate questionnaire below, according to your stakeholder status.

Your involvement will help us to draw up a list of design principles that we will seek to apply to the design of any new routes. We are keen to hear from you regarding the things you feel are important. Could you please provide a response before the 14th June 2019, which is the deadline for the development of our design principles.

Once our proposed new routes have been designed, as part of the regulatory process for all airspace change, we will hold a public consultation in order to let everyone have their say.

Over the coming years, a national program of airspace modernisation will result in the redesign of the airspace above London and the South East of England. As part of this redesign, London Biggin Hill Airport has been asked to develop design principles, which will inform the design of any new routes aircraft using London Biggin Hill Airport will follow in order to integrate with the new London airspace architecture. We are keen to hear from you since your opinions could shape how the airspace is designed.
