The entire aviation industry has a responsibility to reduce emissions and create a sustainable future – and we are fully committed to playing our part. In partnership with operators, service providers and resident businesses, we will work tirelessly to build a new airport model that places responsible environmental practices at its centre – and fulfils our commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2029.

Our journey to this more sustainable future will involve harnessing new and developing technologies, with an approach that creates skilled jobs and powers responsible economic growth – both locally and internationally.

Our Approach

  • Ensure we make the best use of natural resources to minimise the impact our activities have on the local, regional and international environment.
  • Deliver Carbon Neutral accreditation for all of the elements of the airport under our control by 2029.
  • Encourage our staff to take an active part, some have already stepped forward to become an Environmental Champion and are bringing forward environmental initiatives within their departments.

Reducing our carbon footprint

In 2022, we switched to a green electricity tariff and introduced HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) Biodiesel to our fleet of vehicles – reducing our carbon footprint by 74%.

Our Sustainability Statement

We are committed to operating in a sustainable manner that minimises the environmental impact that our operations produce. Our goal is to achieve carbon neutral status, in accordance with Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Europe, by 2029.
